In Hawai’i producing value-added food products requires ingenuity, partnerships, and deep respect for local agriculture. The Maui Food Innovation Center (MFIC) at UH Maui College is a hub that supports entrepreneurs in turning Hawai‘i’s unique ingredients into market-ready products. This session takes participants inside the MFIC model, showing how the center supports small businesses through access to a shared-use manufacturing facility, technical training, and food safety compliance. We’ll explore the unique challenges of producing food in Hawai‘i including shipping, scaling, regulations, and ingredient sourcing. Attendees will see and taste examples of Hawai‘i-made value-added products.
